Also known as: Rapé, Hapé, Indian Snuffs, Rome Poto.
Origin: Brasil

The Yawanawa have a profound knowledge of their shamanic system kept by their initiates and shamans. The study of Yawanawa spirituality begins with prayers and diets and intense initiation processes mark the journey. Among the sacred medicines of the Yawanawa people the Rumé or Rumã as they call their Shamanic Snuff has a central place in their culture. It is one of their main preparations for power. Rapé has an ancestral legacy of healing existing since immemorial times in their cosmology as related in their stories.

All our rapés are traditional and made by indigenous people from the many different tribes. Each rapé is sustainably produced by the tribes with the wisdom of their elders. All rapés contain Nicotina rustica, ashes, a mix of plants and one plant that gives the specific power to that rapé.

Yawanawá Tsunu has a typically uplifting and clearing frequency. It has strong feminine qualities and is ideal for balancing energies and finding deep healing and grounding. Eyes will generally water and the powder is removed from the nose via blowing out much easier than most other blends. This blend is very finely powdered and generally absorbs directly into the nose. Subtly powerful and a favorite amongst regular users of traditional Rapé blends.

About the Yawanawá tribe:

The Yawanawá (yawa/white-lipped peccary; nawa/people) are a group belonging to the Pano linguistic family who today occupy the Gregório River Indigenous Land.

The Yawanawá community is in reality a conjunction of people that includes members from other groups: Shawãdawa (Arara), Iskunawa (nowadays known as Shanênawa, who live in a village close to the town of Feijó), Rununawa, Sainawa (generally known as Yaminawá, who live in the Bagé river region), and Katukina. This configuration is the end result of a sociological dynamic common to many Pano groups – alliances. Through marriage, the capture of women during warfare conflicts, the migration of families – and a series of historical contingencies.
