Wooden Kuripe with Crystal
This kuripe is carved from wood and set with an amethyst or quartz crystal. Like all our applicators it is simple, elegant and robust, handmade with passion and love.
Amethyst and clear quartz are stones of calm and clear thinking, and many keep them close during meditation. Here the crystal sits right on the tool you use to receive the medicine, a small reminder to set your intention before every application.
Kuripe or Tepi?
Traditionally, rapé is given with one of two tools. The kuripe is for self-application: its V shape connects your mouth with your nostril, so you blow the rapé yourself. The tepi is a long pipe through which another person, usually the one holding the ceremony, blows the rapé for you.
How to Use a Kuripe
Put a small amount of rapé, about the size of a pea, into the end that goes to the nose. Place the other end in the corner of your mouth and the rapé end gently into one nostril. Breathe in, hold, and give one short, firm blow. Repeat on the other side with the same amount. Then sit still, breathe slowly through the mouth and let the medicine work.
Care: keep it dry and clean it after each use by tapping it out and passing a thin brush or a pipe cleaner through the channel.
