In Amazonian tradition, wild tobacco (usually Nicotiana rustica, known as mapacho) is used both as rapé (prepared with other plants) and on its own in powdered form. Its benefits vary depending on the method of use and the intention of the ritual:

Wild tobacco is used as a powerful centering tool. It helps focus the mind, clear mental space, and prepare for meditation or ritual work.
